AN MP is playing a key role in revamping Conservative policies for disabled people and working with organisations to find out what extra support should be given to help some of the most vulnerable people in Mid Cheshire.

Tory MP for Eddisbury Stephen O'Brien is working closely with organisations representing disabled people, including the Disability Rights Commission, Scope and the Royal National Institute of the Blind.

Mr O'Brien said: 'While the Conservative Party has been in Opposition we have been thinking, listening and taking the time to learn and understand.

'That is why we want organisations representing disabled people to be actively involved in the policy-making process and have a real input into our manifesto on health and social services.

'It is clear there is a real need for additional help for carers. We must also focus on simplifying the benefits and making sure it is not open to abuse which deprives those who are genuinely in need of the extra resources needed to maintain and improve their quality of life.

'We need to ensure that when we formulate our new policies they reflect the real-life experiences of disabled people and their carers.'
