Tom Scurr of Hollyoaks fame is calling on people to don their trainers and sign up to Age UK’s Wrap Up and Run 10k event taking place on Sunday in Tatton Park.

Taking on the challenge is the ideal way to kick start new year resolutions of more exercise and improving fitness while also helping to raise vital funds for vulnerable older people in the local area and across the country.

The challenge is part of a national series of 10k and 2k spring events taking place in March and April to suit all levels of fitness and ability.

The 10k run is suitable for beginners training for a fitness challenge and professional runners looking for a spring marathon training session.

For those who feel that 10k is a bit of a stretch, Age UK’s 2k walk is also taking place on the Sunday and is the perfect occasion to take part with family and friends.

Hollyoaks star Tom Scurr, who is shortly to appear in the new ITV comedy Edge of Heaven, said: “Age UK does fantastic work in Cheshire and all over the country so I’m urging people in the area to get their trainers on and sign up for this race.

“I’m a keen runner but the great thing about a 10k is that everyone can do it. Most importantly the money raised will make a huge difference to people in later life, so do get involved.”

The 10k event costs £18 to enter and is open to anyone who would like to run, jog or walk the 10k route.

To sign up for an event go to www.ageuk.org.uk/10k or for further information contact the Age UK 10k team at 10k@ageuk.org.uk or call 0800 169 8787.
