Tiverton District Garden Club staged a successful autumn show, with 209 high quality entries from 34 competitors in 70 open classes.

Flowers, fruit and vegetables, pot plants, floral art, junior section, handicrafts and cookery classes were all well-supported, which resulted in a colourful display in the village hall.

The presentations of the trophies by club president Eric Wright were followed by a lively auction of the produce, conducted by Paul Ellams, and a raffle, both of which raised funds for the club.

Club meetings are held at Tiverton Village Hall, Huxley Lane, on the first Tuesday of each month at 7.30pm and everyone is welcome to go along, either to join or as a visitor. Contact secretary Joyce on 01829 733465 for more details.

The next meeting is on Tuesday, October 6, and is an illustrated talk about ‘Propagation’ by Anne Harrison from Reaseheath College. This will be followed by a bring-and-buy plant sale.
