Sadie Hartley was stabbed to death at her home in a horrific knife attack after being shot with a stun gun.

Ms Hartley, who ran her own medical communications business, was found dead at her detached home on Sunny Bank Road in Helmshore, Rossendale, on January 14, this year.

Sarah Williams, 34, of Treborth Road, Blacon, and Katrina Walsh, 56, of Hare Lane, Guilden Sutton, were today both found guilty of murdering the 60-year-old mum-of-two.

    Sarah Williams and Katrina Walsh begin planning Sadie Hartley’s murder.

  3. September 2014

    Entry appears in Katrina Walsh’s diary:

    “Sarah came round so got caught up in endless murder plot for Ian’s other half.”

    Sarah Williams sent a letter to Sadie Hartley telling her that she and Ian had enjoyed a sexual relationship for over a year and the sex was the best he's ever had.

    Ex-fireman Mr Johnston and Ms Hartley move in together at their £500,000 detached stone property in Sunnybank Road, Helmshore, Lancashire.

  5. May 2015

    Sarah Williams sent a text to Katrina Walsh saying: “Don’t forget to crack on with your shopping... suddenly it’s time.”

  16. January 5, 2016

    Katrina Walsh buys the murder weapon, a knife, from the Tesco store in Broughton using her Clubcard.

    Sarah Williams travels again to Sunny Bank Road to retrieve the tracker from Ian Johnston’s car.

  17. January 6, 2016

    Sarah William’s travels to Sadie Hartley’s place of work in Knutsford – Hartley Taylor Medical Communications – and stays there for two hours.

    Williams then travels to Bury to buy a pair of binoculars from Argos before going to Helmshore.

  18. January 7, 2016

    Sarah Williams and Katrina Walsh travel to Sadie’s home Helmshore.

    They buy a £3 bunch of flowers at the Tesco Haslingden store and Katrina delivers the flowers to the victim.

    Both defendants then travel to the nearby Holden Arms pub before returning two hours later to Sunny Bank Road.

    Sarah Williams and Katrina Walsh buy a Renault Clio in Littleton – the car used to travel to Helmshore for the murder.

  20. January 12, 2016

    Sarah Williams travels to the Marks and Spencer’s and Deichmann’s stores at Cheshire Oaks retail park near Ellesmere Port to buy clothes and boots.

  21. January 13, 2016

    Katrina Walsh captured on CCTV buying petrol for her Vauxhall Astra – the car used to pick up Sarah Williams after the murder.

  22. January 14, 2016 – the day of the murder

    3pm

    Sarah Williams went to work, but at 3pm called David Hardwick and told him she wasn’t feeling well and was going home.

    5.58pm

    Sarah Williams sent a text to David Hardwick saying: “Just had another cup of tea. Going to switch light off and have a nap now. Will ring when I wake up as long as not late xxxxxxx”

    7.15pm

    Sadie Hartley’s Audi sports car arrives at her home in Helmshore after she had been to the stables to ride her horses.

    8pm

    Sadie receives a knock on the door and opens it to find Sarah Williams. Sadie is incapacitated with the stun gun before being stabbed 40 times.

    Sarah Williams is then captured on CCTV just four-and-a-half minutes later walking back down Sunny Bank Road towards her car.

    9.48pm

    Sarah Williams rang Katrina Walsh to say ‘job done’ and to meet her at the car park in Ellesmere Port.

    10.51pm

    Sarah Williams arrives at Ellesmere Port car park and is joined by Katrina Walsh at 11.01pm

    11.30pm

    Both defendants arrive at the car park on Treborth Road in Chester in the Astra.

    Katrina Walsh walks back to the car park carrying the knife, stun gun and boots to dispose of them.
