THE war dead will be honoured at services of remembrance to be held throughout the borough.

Two main services will be held at war memorials at Victoria Park, Widnes, and the cenotaph on Greenway Road, Runcorn, on Sunday, November 13.

The Widnes event includes a civic procession - assembly is at 10.05am at the park gates on Peelhouse Lane and the procession will move off at 10.35am, arriving at the War Memorial at 10.45am.

Those taking part in the civic procession in Runcorn will assemble at St Michael's Church on Greenway Road at 2.45pm and will move off at 2.50pm, arriving at the cenotaph at 3pm.

On Monday, November 7, the two lawns either side of the Runcorn War Memorial will be rededicated as gardens of remembrance and people are invited to lay Royal British Legion crosses during a short service.

And the public are being urged to observe a two-minute silence on November 11 at 11am.
