ANYONE who has lost a baby is invited to an annual memorial service at Chester Cathedral.

The North Wales and Chester Miscarriage Support Group is organising the event which will take place at 11.30am on Sunday, March 13.

Karen Dalton, of Shotton, who runs the group, says anyone who has lost a baby through causes such as cot death, miscarriage and neonatal death would be most welcome.

'It's a sensitive service where people can light a candle as a symbol of hope for the future,' said Karen, who lost a baby herself through a miscarriage.

'We get two to three hundred people at the service each year and it seems to be growing.

'We have also got a baby memorial garden at Blacon Crematorium for parents to come and remember their child.

'It doesn't matter if the baby isn't buried there, people can still have headstones inscribed with the baby's name.

'A lot of parents find seeing their baby's name confirms that they existed and they find it helps them move on.'
