Chester and other parts of Cheshire can clearly be seen on this spectacular photo tweeted from space by astronaut Tim Peake.

The stunning photo was shared by Peake today, who is currently taking part in a six-month mission to the International Space Station which has seen him become the first ever astronaut to complete a 'space walk'.

Peake shared the picture which shows Chester, Elllesmere Port , Frodsham , Helsby and Runcorn as well as Merseyside and the Wirral Penninsula, with thousands of his social media followers all over the world.

Deeside and parts of North Wales can also be seen on the photo, which Peake captioned: "looks like the sun is still shining on Liverpool."

More than 6000 people liked the photo in less than an hour, but it's not the first time the astronaut has shared an image of Chester - only last month he shared an amazing image of our city visible from space amongst snow-capped mountains of North Wales.
