A COUNCILLOR has been getting his hands dirty to raise awareness of how to keep streets clean and tidy.
Cllr Mick Roberts joined Crewe and Nantwich Borough Council's Blitz Team at the Brookhouse Drive allotments in Crewe to play his part in tidying up his Alexandra ward in time for Christmas.
Cllr Roberts hoped he could help emphasise to all residents the importance of keeping their environment a nice place in which to live and work.
He said: 'I felt it was really important to see the very good work being done by the Blitz team, especially here on my own doorstep.
'The team covers such a lot of ground and is playing an enormous role in cleaning up our borough.
'It was a real eye-opener into how difficult it is to keep our streets clean and litter-free.' The Blitz team has been created in response to neighbourhood action plans written by residents who want to see an improvement in the appearance of the area.
The team is on standby and waiting to hear from residents with information on which areas need attention.
