PET owners in Chester are being encouraged to plan in advance to help their furry friends through the firework season.

It is estimated that about 60% of pets become stressed and fearful at this time of year.

To make matters worse, not only are many owners unaware of how to help their pets, up to 71% might be missing signs that their pets are unhappy.

The Storrar Practice in Boughton, Chester has launched a “Remember, Remember your Pets this November” campaign to provide pet owners with hints and tips on how to look after their animals during the firework season and advise on precautions that can be taken to help their animals cope with their fear of loud noises.

Vet James Storrar thinks that preparing in advance is the key to successful treatment.

“People are aware that fireworks can cause pets significant distress, but many are unclear about exactly what can be done to help them cope with their fear,” he said.

“It’s therefore important that all owners prepare their pets for Bonfire Night.”
