LAX security has been blamed by a man who had more than £3,000 of vintage car parts stolen from a rented garage.

The block of garages on Browns Lane, Handbridge was struck by thieves during the night on Monday last week (July 28).

A priceless red pedal car that River Lane resident Roy Tighe built for his now grown up children was among the items stolen.

Parts for a vintage 1953 Hillman Minx car were taken including the engine, bonnet, boot lid, front doors, front wings and other parts. In total, Mr Tighe says they were worth £2,050.

Mr Tighe had planned to restore the car, bought by his father when the family emigrated to America in the 1950s and shipped to Chester when they returned. He is currently trying to secure planning permission to build a garage next to his home which was to have housed the vehicle.
