Police are urging drivers to secure their vehicles, after items were stolen from seven unlocked cars on an Ellesmere Port estate overnight on Saturday (February 27).

Sat Navs, cash and ‘anything of any value’ were pinched from cars on the Stanney Oaks estate's Lindisfarne Avenue, Alderney Close, Guernsey Drive and Lundy Drive, said Sgt John Taylor of the Ellesmere Port and Neston Local Policing Unit.

“Frustratingly, these were insecure cars,” he said.

“Opportunists have gone round and tried lots of cars, expecting people to leave them unlocked.

“We are reminding people to lock their cars.”

Police patrols of the area will be stepped up in the wake of the thefts.

Sgt Taylor added that one individual is currently in custody in relation to them.

Anyone with information about any of these incidents is asked to contact Cheshire police on 101.
