TESCO is opening its third food store in Chester.

The Tesco Express, which opens tomorrow, is in the same building as the new Travelodge in Delamere Street.

Store manager, Paul Beverly, said: “I am really pleased with my new team and I’m looking forward to working with my staff. We are delighted to be opening a Tesco Express store in Chester, and look forward to playing an active role in the local community.”

Tesco created 14 new jobs after recruiting staff from the area and working with JobCentre Plus.

The store also advertised the new jobs in existing Tesco stores, andŠ externally at the new site in Delamere Road. This led to the store receiving 65 applications.

Mr Beverly added: “I was thrilled with the response we received to our recruitment process. In this time of economic uncertainty, it is great that we are able to create jobs and help get people back into work.”

The Tesco Express will open its doors at 8am on the first day and will generally be open from 6am to 11pm, seven days a week.

There will be a free cash machine, National Lottery terminal, a bakery, two self-service tills and an off-licence.

Tesco’s two superstores are now open until midnight, six days a week.
