A TATTENHALL sports club has been served a boost thanks to a popular village shop.

For the past couple of years, The Nisa Local store on Tattenhall High Street has been involved in the national ‘Make a Difference Locally’ scheme, which raises money for good causes and charities in their area through selling specific products in their shops.

Having previously donated money for other village amenities through the scheme, including new equipment at Tattenhall Park Primary School, the family-run store’s latest charity effort to resurface the tennis courts at Tattenhall Sports Club, has raised an impressive £1,400 – more than ever before.

And despite difficult trading times, owner Thomas Morton, who runs the store with his wife and sister, is grateful for the support from the local community.

“Our business is growing very well at the moment, and we are supported very well by all of our customers so we are very pleased to be able to give something back to the village like this,” he said.

“I have been running the shop for the past 13 years, at first with my father who retired last year, and now with my wife and sister.

“We work alongside 20 staff members all from the Tattenhall area and some who have worked here for 20 years. We’re coming up to 30 years of being open next year and always get a lot of support from the locals.”

Sports club spokesman Steve Wells said: “We are unbelievably grateful as we don’t get much funding. The money will go toward resurfacing the tennis courts.”
