A BURGLAR who raided a house and stole Christmas presents from under the tree turned out to be a 16-year-old boy.

In fact, it was his third conviction for dwelling house burglary, a court heard.

The boy had been celebrating the fact that the previous day his electronic tag had been removed following a previous burglary.

The boy, from the Mold area but who cannot be publicly identified because of his age, admitted stealing presents to the value of £80 at a house in Wrexham Road, Mold, on December 23 last year.

At Flintshire Youth Court, the case was adjourned for sentence.

Prosecutor Wyn Jones said a couple and their two children aged 15 and nine were asleep in bed when the burglary occurred at about 4.30am.

A near neighbour later found Christmas wrapping paper and discarded presents in the garden of her home.

The boy's finger print was found on wrapping paper inside the burgled house but the boy was adamant he had not been responsible.

But the boy changed his plea, admitted burglary, and magistrates who were told he had two previous convictions for burglary, adjourned the hearing for a pre-sentence report.
