A homebuilder in Kelsall has presented local children with balance bikes to help promote cycling safety.

To mark the launch of its Applewood Green development, Taylor Wimpey North West has given 10 balance bikes and helmets to reception children at Kelsall Primary School, to help them learn about balance and steering in a safe and fun manner.

School principal David Wearing said: “Thanks to the generosity of businesses like Taylor Wimpey, we’re able to provide our pupils with the very best equipment and tools for learning life lessons both inside and outside the classroom.

“Our cycling with safety programme has long-since been an ambition of ours and we can’t wait to get it in full swing. Safety on the roads is a vital lesson we all must learn, and now we’re able to provide our young pupils with the head start we hope will serve them well for the future.”

Balance bikes have proven to help children to learn to ride a bicycle faster because they learn to balance and counter steer first, before pedalling.

Sales manager for Taylor Wimpey North West Stuart Craig adds: “We’re thrilled to be working with Kelsall Primary School to promote cycling safety at the same time as we open the doors at our highly-anticipated Applewood Green development.

“As a committed homebuilder, we understand the importance of health and safety, which is why we’re making sure we do all we can to ensure our future generations get all the help they need while they’re still young.”
