A STUDENT from Tattenhall is gearing up for the trek of her life.

Marion Dodd, 19, who lives in Gatesheath, will begin a two- week expedition in Lima, Peru, this June, and hike through the South American mountains on the Inca Trail, to raise funds for Broadgreen hospital.

Marion, a Geography student at Aberystwyth University, will brave the elements with her boyfriend James Morris, 20, on the four day trail.

“I’ve never done anything like this before,” said Marion.

“I just thought that life’s too short and we may as well do something we’ve always wanted to do.

“My dad has always wanted to go to Peru and his recent heart problem has spurred me on to do it.”

She added: “I have been getting people to sponsor me to raise money for Broadgreen Hospital, because not only has my dad been treated there, but a lot of my family and friends too.

“I am hoping that by this going in the paper, more people will sponsor us.”

Marion and James will set off for Peru on June 13.

“It will be tough,” says Marion. “But it will be the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done.”

If you would like to sponsor Marion and James, call 01829 770376 or send to Birch Tree Farm, Newton Lane, Tattenhall, Chester CH3 9AY.
