nOne of the stops on the Chester Walking Trail for food-lovers is the Chester Cheese Shop.
Carol Faulkner, who runs the shop with her daughter Ann, was pleased to be included on the food trail and felt it could help benefit the Northgate Street section of the city centre.
Carol, who stores a range of cheeses in a cellar at the back of the shop, said: “We have really gone to some lengths to get Northgate Street promoted. People on King Street can do shopping here.
“As can be seen, some of the places along this street are boarded up.
“Let’s hope we can get this referred to as being an eating place and showing this shop as what little shops used to be like.”
Carol also spoke in praise of Cheshire cheese.
“We have always had Cheshire cheese, it’s the oldest one around. It’s not too strong and suits most people’s palates,” she said.
“It is quite mild and gets its flavour from the Cheshire soil being quite salty.
“The young and the elderly are not put off by it, they can acquire a taste for Cheshire cheese.”
