TARPORLEY Rotary Club played host to a team of young professionals from Southern India during a recent visit to the village.

In Cheshire for six weeks as part of the International Group Study Exchange programme, the four visitors travelled from Karnataka, one of India’s largest states.

During their stay in Tarporley they lodged with members of the rotary club and learned all about English home life.

Days were spent sightseeing and evenings sampling local fare in hotspots like The Rising Sun.

Each week was hosted by a different rotary club member and the visitors attended a club meeting and delivered presentations about their own homes and jobs.

In addition to this they all spent a day with a business as similar as possible to their own, such as dental practices, recruitment companies and training companies.

David Carter from Tarporley Rotary Club said: “All the companies gave the visitors a great day and put a lot of effort into ensuring they saw as much as possible of how we do things.

“But the highlight of the visit was on Tuesday evening when the visitors made their presentation to the club and donned traditional Indian costume to perform some of their religious and celebratory dances, one of which was remarkably similar to a Morris dance!”
