Posh frocks were on show at Tarvin WI recently with a special Flog It event at the village community centre.

President Irene Wilkinson welcomed members, friends and guest members from Ashton Hayes, Christleton, Duddon, Peckforton and Beeston.

The guest speaker was Peter Ashburner, fine art director at Wright Marshall, who has appeared on many TV shows who talked about the world of antiques.

His message throughout the evening was that something of little value to you might be the real thing to someone else and that ugly things often fetch good money.

He talked about the differences between the value of silver plate and solid silver and what to look for when buying at auctions.

The next meeting of the Tarvin WI is on Wednesday, June 29 at 7.30 pm in the Edna Rose room at Tarvin Community Centre where new members and visitors are welcome.

The speaker’s topic is My Quilting Journey with Susan Debarro.
