AN IT worker has snapped his way to success in a national photography competition.

Michael Hilton from Tarporley, fought off competition from more than 10,000 fellow photography enthusiasts to make the final 12 and be awarded a trophy in the Lloyds TSB Insurance Weather Photographer of the Year competition. Michael was commended for his picture Brief Respite. Š

The image taken on the Isle of Skye was selected by competition judges to be in the final 12, but Michael narrowly missed out on the top spot.

Michael said: “I was delighted and surprised when I found out I’d made the final 12 – it’s such an honour.”

The competition was open to amateurs only, with the key criteria being flair, technique and originality used in capturing British weather and its impact.
