AN EVENING of celebration and fundraising will be held on Monday (June 28) to mark a year since the start of Tarporley Tower Appeal – which to date has raised more than £90,000.

Rev Keith Hine, of St Helen’s Church, Tarporley, said he was ‘delighted’ with the amount the Tower Appeal has raised since its launch a year ago.

The appeal was started after experts said up to £100,000 was needed to fix the tower, including repointing, repairs to lead work on gutters and roofing.

Rev Hine said: “What a great year it has been – over £90,000 raised by donations, all kinds of events and lots of hard work. It has created a real sense of purpose and fellowship. The support of the community has been wonderful. And to celebrate a year since the appeal began, there is an evening of celebration and fundraising at Hollins Hill House in Cotebrook.”

Rev Hine added: “This fine summer weather calls for a refreshing drink, so Pimms it will be. ‘Pimms on the Hill’ begins at 6.30pm and tickets refreshments and canapés along with the chance to enjoy the lovely garden are £10.”
