A TARPORLEY police officer will be cracking down on traffic offences in the village.
PC Ged Gigg will be ticketing all those cars parked illegally, and fining all those not wearing seatbelts and using phones whilst driving in the village.
For one week from August 10 through to August 16 PC Gigg and PCSO Emily Benson will be actively looking for those who are committing traffic offences in Tarporley and be issuing fines.
PC Gigg said that parking and traffic-related issues are a real problem in the village and that often people park illegally without realising the problems they cause.
PC Gigg said: “The emphasis will be on predominantly enforcement through issuing of fines for offenders carrying out any of the previously mentioned. However if the circumstances dictate words of advice may be given.”
Parking was the most complained about issue amongst villagers when the parish council was putting together the parish plan. There have been a number of schemes in Tarporley to try and combat the parking problem and prevent villagers parking illegally.
Despite this PC Gigg said people still think they can park illegally while they go into the shops and not face a fine.
