FRUSTRATED councillors will ask the police to refund them for not providing their village with a full-time PCSO.

Members of Tarporley Parish Council – one of the few which provides funding toward its PCSO service – claim the village has not had enough coverage since the departure of Emily Benson in October last year.

They will also contact Cheshire police urging them to start providing a record of attendance again.

Speaking during the recent parish council meeting, chairman Ken Parker said: “I don't know why we're paying for this service. We’ve had no indication of how much time they've been spending in the village."

Cllr Linda Burrows: “It’s not written in stone this is the one. Why should we be messed about?” Cllr Timothy Hill added: “No show, no pay.”

PC Ged Gigg said during the meeting that PCSO James McLaughlin had originally been drafted over to provide cover.

However, he has since been replaced by PCSO Debbie Netherton who has experience of covering rural areas such as Tarvin and Kelsall.

PC Gigg could not guarantee that she would become the permanent PCSO for Tarporley as the decision is not down to him.
