Tarporley Library will be closed during the summer holidays, so building work can take place at the village’s high school.
The library will close at 7pm on Monday, July 18 and re-open at 1.30pm on Thursday, September 8.
Extended loan periods will be put in place so that items will not be due for return during this time and customers will be able to search, reserve and renew items online at any time of the day or night on the council’s website.
It comes after the school announced a £2.5m government funding boost will ‘revitalise’ the school and its Sixth Form College.
The school submitted two ambitious bids to make extensive, 21st century improvements to the site which involves replacing most of the roofs on the buildings and all of the existing external walling, windows and ceilings, as well as providing a new, fully efficient ventilation and lighting system in one of the main teaching blocks.
Councillor Louise Gittins, Cabinet member for community and wellbeing, said: “We apologise for any inconvenience during the temporary closure but customers are very welcome to use any of our other libraries, including nearby Tarvin, Tattenhall, Sandiway and Winsford Libraries.
