ONE of the UK’s most successful fashion entrepreneurs has declared a Tarporley boutique her favourite shop.

Sarah Curran, who founded online luxury fashion store my-wardrobe.com and is known as a major force in the fashion industry, wrote in retail guru Mary Portas’s weekly fashion page in The Telegraph last week that Bottega, on the village high street, left her ‘feeling good as a shop should’.

Describing the womenswear and lifetstyle store as ‘a gem of a boutique’, Curran wrote: “It’s charming, with old-fashioned haberdashery counters and antique cabinets.

“It stocks an eclectic selection of homeware, gifts and clothing, all reasonably priced and it’s a place where you can pick up trinkets to make your house a home, such as glass jars for £10.

“There’s also a tearoom. Bottega leaves you feeling good, as a shop should.”

The compliment comes a year after Bottega was named runner up in Mary Portas’s ‘The Best Shops in Britain’ in Mary Portas’ Telegraph magazine campaign.

Sam Brightmore, who owns the store, said 2012 has been ‘a great year for accolades’.

“We have been utterly blown away by the praise our store has received.

“This year we’ve been voted by Stella magazine as one of their top 50 stores as well as one of Vogue’s top 100 and Mary Portas was enormously complimentary about us.

“She told us simply to keep doing what we’re doing which is simply looking after our customers and offering them something different & doing it with integrity.

“We didn’t know about Sarah’s article until a lady at our till said that she had driven over from Stockport because of the article; we had a copy in the cafe so I quickly flicked through to Mary’s page and there it was!

“It felt seriously good to receive such a personal endorsement from somebody I admire enormously.

“Last January, I braced myself for what I thought would be the rockiest ride of a year with all of the doom and gloom in the marketplace, but armed with a game plan, an enormous amount of hard work and a heap of gut instinct, we’ve had a truly incredible year in so many ways, and this Christmas, Team Bottega will most definitely be enjoying the festivities as we have much to celebrate.”
