LADIES are invited to take a stroll for the Countess of Chester Hospital at the 2009 Moonlight Walk

And while men are not allowed to actually take part organisors still want men to act as marshals to ensure the walkers are safe.

This year’s Moonlight Walk is a brand new 10 mile circular route around Chester, starting at 10pm on Saturday, June 20.

Last year’s top fundraiser was Andrea Heard of Ellesmere Port who raised £540 and her employer, E A Technology, was so impressed they stumped up a further £500.

Pam Darch and Kathy Kenney, of the hospital’s fundraising team rewarded Andrea with champagne.

More than 500 people took part last year, which helped raise nearly £60,000 towards the Trusts’ Relative Comfort Appeal, and the Fundraising Team are hoping for even more support this year.

Andrea said: “I’ve really enjoyed taking part in the Moonlight Walk.

“It’s a great event that allows a lot of local women to have fun while raising money for a worthy cause.”

Events co-ordinator, Kathy Kenney, said: “This will be the fourth Moonlight Walk and hopefully with the new route and earlier start time, it will be the most successful ever.

“I would encourage as many local women to sign up as possible and even if you’ve done the walk in previous years, why not sign up again and try the new route.”

All funds raised will be going towards the Relative Comfort Appeal – providing accommodation for the relatives of patients being treated on the Critical Care Unit.
