THE clocks have yet to change but fundraisers are already chasing us out of our beds.

The Hospice of the Good Shepherd is holding its Sunrise Stroll from the Roodee on Sunday, May 25 at 5am when hundreds of supporters are expected to turn up.

Last year, most people in the city were still tucked up between the sheets as over 650 people took part in the event, designed to raise funds to secure care at the hospice.

A marvellous £40,000 had been pledged, but at the end of the day a wonderful £53,000 poured into the coffers, covering over a week’s running costs at the hospice. It is hoped to double that amount this year.

A seven-mile option has been introduced in addition to the 12-mile route. This will finish at Chester Zoo where there will be buses to transport walkers back to the racecourse for breakfast and a medal to mark their achievement.

Strollers can obtain entry forms from event fundraiser Jemma Hamilton on 01244 851811 or by e-mailing jemma. hamilton@hospicegs.com.

Online entry forms are also available. Volunteers are also needed to help out with marshalling and refreshments.
