Suicide threat teenager talked down from Chester’s Millennium Cycleway bridge

A TEENAGE girl caused rush hour chaos when she threatened to jump off a bridge over Parkgate Road.

Police officers talked down the 16-year-old from the millennium cycleway bridge, near the University of Chester, which crosses the main road. The road was cordoned off, with traffic diverted.

Emergency crews, who were alerted about 4pm on Tuesday, placed cushioned matting underneath the bridge in case the girl decided to jump.

She was led away by police officers after about an hour and taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital for assessment.
