PUPILS at Hartford High School have been busy helping Thinkprint create a new school prospectus.

The youngsters have taken photographs and even written some of the words for the 12-page prospectus that will be printed in time for the new school year.

Mike Holland, who has just been appointed headteacher at Hartford, said: 'We wanted to give the pupils responsibility for the prospectus and they have rewarded us with their enthusiasm and commitment.'

Stephen Davies, 14, said: 'We wrote the pupil involvement pages and wanted to say there are so many ways to get involved, such as buddying and being a prefect.'

Heather Carlton, 15, added: 'The school lets us do so much - we even helped interview for the headteacher's job! There was a panel of pupils and a special question time so we could put our recommendations forward.'

Local photographer Lisa Gardner gave her time to help pupils take some of the photos for the prospectus and Thinkprint provided the design work free of charge.

Mr Holland, who is currently deputy head, will take over in September. The school will then work towards achieving specialist status in languages and sport.

Bosses will also be unveiling state-of-the-art music facilities including a fully equipped studio and practice rooms, all available for hire.

Mr Holland said: '(Outgoing headteacher) Dr David Kirby has done an excellent job at Hartford and if we can make as much progress in the next few years as we have in the last four years I will be delighted.'
