PUPILS at Weaverham High School are to appear on one of TV's most-cherished institutions.

The school's choir ventured to Chester Cathedral last week to sing with counterparts from several North West schools, including The Grange and St Nicholas' High School in Hartford, for a Christmas edition of the BBC's Songs of Praise.

Year 8 pupil Megan Rae said: 'We had been preparing for this event with mounting excitement. We practised almost non-stop to make sure our harmon-isation was spot on.'

Fellow pupil Rachel Tunnacliffe added: 'At our rehearsal at the Grange School we met our conductor, Paul Leddington-Wright. It was our first chance to show other schools how much effort we had put in and how much this opportunity meant to us.

'The conductor was impressed with our singing and we were eagerly anticipating our performance on Songs of Praise.

'We sang Immanuel, We Three Kings of Orient Are,Song of the Lord's Goodness and O Worship the Lord in the Beauty of Holiness.'
