PUPILS of The King’s School have filled more than 160 shoeboxes with gifts for the Operation Christmas Child 2010 appeal.

Those from Year 10 and above were involved in checking, packing and sealing boxes and delivered them to the Wrexham collection centre in freezing temperatures.

The boxes have been sent to underprivileged children in Africa and Romania.

Ian Taylor, Operation Christmas Child regional manager for the North West and North Wales, said: “It has been privilege to have the students involved Operation Christmas Child.

“It has provided them with an opportunity to engage in more than just making a gift-filled shoebox for needy children.

“They have been at the checking centre and worked alongside the volunteer team who check and pack these gifts for export.

“Their assistance is really appreciated and, as a result, their understanding of the principle of ‘serving of others’ has grown.”
