ADVENTUROUS students enjoyed a taste of Europe after a packed day of language-themed activities.

Helsby High School held a European Languages Day for students to try their hand at speaking in a different tongue.

Students enjoyed watching Disney films in French, taking part in foreign-themed quizzes and making bright decorations and fact-filled posters.

French and German teacher Miss Maxfield said: “I have been particularly pleased with all the help from other departments and also from the sixth formers.”

Pupils also enjoyed tucking into tasty treats as the canteen got involved with the themed day, serving up dishes from across Europe including beef goulash, currywurst, chicken stroganoff and Italian meatballs, and even treated students to a handmade pain au chocolat at break time.

Head of media studies Mrs McGovern said: “The pain au chocolat in the canteen was better than the ones I have tasted in Paris.”

All the students enjoyed having a taste of German, Spanish, French and Italian and learning about the different cultures and ways of life across Europe.
