A HIGH-flying student at the University of Chester is making a rapid rise up the career ladder after being recruited by one of the North West’s leading broadcasting companies.

Although first-year student Kelly-Jo Coney only began her course in radio and television production last September, she is already making waves after being offered part-time training as a technical operative at GMG Radio’s Century Radio.

The 24-year-old will combine the training with her studies to present her own show, the Morning-After Show with Kelly-Jo, on the university’s own radio station, The Cat 1251.

She said: “I’m really looking forward to it. In the long-term, I would like to go into presenting and broadcasting, but I’m also really keen on learning the technical aspects of the industry.”
