A MODEL student has landed herself a contract with one of Europe’s leading fashion agencies.
Year 11 Frodsham College student Abby Clee, 16, has been snapped up by Models 1, after being spotted on a shopping trip with her mum last year in the Trafford Centre.
Since then Abby, from Castlefields, Runcorn, has been rubbing shoulders with some of the world’s top models and designers, including northern beauty Agyness Deyn.
In her short modelling career, Abby has already travelled to London for Fashion Week and to Milan to be photographed for a string of fashion publications, including Grazia magazine.
As well as the magazine shoots, Abby has hit the catwalk and been photographed as the possible face of Dior, Boss, Calvin Klein and Paul Smith.
Although she is becoming accustomed to the life of the fashion model, Abby admits it was all a bit unexpected at first.
She said: “People would always say to me ‘you could be a model’, but I never took them seriously, so I was quite shocked to be asked.
“Its been exciting, but also nerve-racking, especially going to Milan on my own. But they make it very easy for you and you’re well looked after.”
When’s she is not strutting her stuff on the catwalk, Abby likes to relax by going shopping with her boyfriend or her mum.
Despite her success so far, the local model has not yet ruled out a future career on the other side of the camera.
Abby said: “When I leave school this year I’m going to give full time modelling a try for two years and just see where it takes me.
“Then if the modelling doesn’t work out then I plan to go to college to do a photography course.”
For the moment, Abby is enjoying juggling her modelling with her school work, as she prepares to do her GCSEs in the summer.
She said: “I’m finding it all quite fun and doing both keeps me busy, which is how I like it!”
Abby, whose favourite school subject is English, has this advice for any other would-be models.
“I can’t stand girls who feel as though they have to wear loads of make-up to look good. The agencies really want to know what girls look like naturally, so they can see what they can work with.
“Also, I’d make sure that you do your research and send your pictures off to a good agency, not one that will just rip you off.”
