RAIL users are making life a misery for residents who can't get near their Holloway homes for parked cars.

And some commuters using Runcorn Railway Station are even said to be leaving their vehicles outside people's homes for days on end.

One resident who contacted the Weekly News said: 'Simply taking my children to school, going shopping or to work has now become a nightmare because when you return home rail users are parked outside your house.

`Residents have to park in other roads well away from their homes.

These rail users have a new car park, along with two car parks out-side the station, but the car park in Holloway lies empty everyday.'

Another Holloway resident said: 'Instead of getting better the problem with parking has just got worse and worse.'

Along with the inconvenience, the volume of traffic parked in Holloway also poses a danger.

A spokesman for Halton Borough Council said: 'The parking situation in Holloway has been an issue for some time, but there does not appear to be an easy solution.

'Due to the relatively high daily charge for parking at the station car parks, some rail travellers have taken to parking in adjacent roads near Runcorn station.

'The council has approached the owners of the car parks to seek a reduction in the parking fee, but this has not been forthcoming.

'In order to address these problems, proposals were put to the residents of Holloway some time ago, which involved imposing part-day parking restrictions to prevent vehicles being left all day without being moved.

'These were not accepted by local people.'
