RESIDENTS fear it will only be a matter of time before a child is killed or badly injured in a smash caused by teenage yobs who race through the estates of Halton View on scooters and quad bikes.
A woman, who asked not be named, said neighbours are at the ends of their tethers with the gang's hellraising behaviour, which includes illegally riding vehicles on pavements and public land.
She also says they deliberately rev the engines in the early hours to wake people up.
She said: 'These lads are going to kill a child with their bikes on Cheryl Drive.
'There are always motorbikes whizzing past - you step out of your front gate and nearly get knocked over.
'It's always the same gang - there are at least eight lads always riding motorbikes, quad bikes and scooters without helmets on.'
She says the same culprits have been terrorising residents on Alford Street, Kingham Close and Melville Close for at least two years.
Ward councillor Rob Polhill said the authorities were aware of the anti-social behaviour problem and discussions are under way with police to tackle it.
While residents have noticed increased CSO patrols, they are urging police to maintain a constant presence in the area.
The resident said: 'I have said to the police that they can base themselves in my house to see what is going on.
'I'm 64 and I am not soft but I have high blood pressure and this isn't helping.
'I'd like to see them get a good hiding - they should be given ASBOs but they are just like a medal to these people.' firstname.lastname@example.org
