THE family of man missing on the Greek holiday island of Crete have vowed to continue their search six months after he disappeared.

Liverpool University student Steven Cook, who would have celebrated his 21st birthday in January, has not been seen since September. Cheshire police have confirmed that they no longer belive Steven to be alive, although no clues to what happened to him on the night of his disappearance have been found.

Mr Cook's brother Chris, of Chillingham Close, Middlewich, has been out to Crete with family members looking for any sign as to his whereabouts, but despite intense police investigations both in the UK and in Greece and a string of television appeals they still have little to go on.

Mr Cook's father Norman, 63, said: 'There's nothing come through to give us an indication as to whether he is dead or alive.

'Quite what is going to happen next I don't know.

'We are always talking to people who e-mail us with stories of people who have gone missing and have turned up months and years later.

'We have to stay positive. There is no indication that anything has happened to Steve to make us think that some day we will not get him back. Until then as a family we will never, never stop looking.

'We are still not disregarding any possibility.

'It is just like Steve has fallen off the face of the earth. It's still very difficult for us and we remain hopeful and positive.

'We are so hopeful that we will get him back. We have left his room the same.

'His Christmas presents and birthday presents are still there, unopened, and we will be leaving them until he comes home.'
