Down Syndrome is of particular importance at St Oswald’s CE Primary School in Mollington as it is a condition that affects one of their pupils.

To mark World Down Syndrome Awareness Day they held a ‘Dress Down for Down Syndrome’ day. The emphasis was not on raising money but raising awareness and understanding.

In a special assembly pupils watched inspirational videos about children with Down Syndrome including Jay Beatty winning the Scottish goal of the month competition for January and also the singing of Madison Tevlin.

Headteacher Dave Wallace said: “We want to ensure that all our children understand as much as they can about the condition, as well as learning about the importance of tolerance, inclusion, and the need to celebrate diversity.”
