A TEACHER of hearing impaired children is walking 34 miles for her charity.

Sally Wilkinson, of Honey Pot Cottage, Duddon, begins her mammoth trek on Saturday (August 9).

The group will meet at 7am at the Shady Oak pub, Bate’s Mill Lane, Tiverton. From there they will get a lift to the starting point of the Sandstone Trail in Whitchurch.

Sally expects it to take them five to six hours to walk the first 18 miles of the trail back to the Shady Oak.

The next day, they will head back to the Shady Oak to trek the remaining 16 miles to The Bear’s Paw, Main Street, Frodsham. Sally will make the journey with her husband and friends. Six months ago, Sally, whose husband and daughter are deaf, set up the Chester and Ellesmere Port branch of the National Deaf Children’s Society.

She decided to raise vital funds so that she can continue helping families like hers.

Sally, who is also a teaching assistant at Woodlands Primary School, Whitby in Ellesmere Port, with a hearing impaired resource base, said: “Last weekend I walked 18 miles. Most people do the walk over three days – I’m sure it will be very hard but a challenge is a challenge.”

Anyone who wants to join Sally on the Sandstone Trail on August 9 and 10 are welcome. Details from Sally on 01829 781194 or 07805837663.
