A CHEF from Dale Barracks has put the icing on the cake this Christmas.Š
Private Giriraj Limbu, 25, from Nepal, who serves with the 1st Battalion The Royal Welsh, beat competitors from across the North West to triumph in the Privates’ category of a Christmas cake decorating competition.Š
Entries came from serving soldiers and civilian staff and judging took place at Fulwood Barracks, Preston, the North West Army headquarters.
The Army Benevolent Fund and Help for Heroes benefited from a sealed bid auction of the cakes which was held after the competition.
One of the judges, Brigadier Bill Aldridge, Commander 42 (North West) Brigade, said: “There was a fantastic standard of entries from across the region and they did very well to get all the cakes here despite the recent bad weather.”
Warrant Officer Class One Chris Hirst, the Food Services Warrant Officer of 42 (North West) Brigade added: “There was an outstanding standard of cakes.Š The competition is great as it shows the diversity of military chefs, while supporting worthwhile charities and improving the links the Army has with the wider community.”
