HOLLYOAKS star Carley Stenson is taking on a new role in a bid to help teenagers across Mid Cheshire.

The young actress, who plays Stephanie Dean in the hit Channel Four soap, will star in a short film promoting a new initiative that allows students to search and apply for learning opportunities online.

Called Wayahead, the web-based guide is a one-stop shop for all training opportunities in the Cheshire and Warrington area.

Carley, pictured, one of Hollyoaks' best-known characters, will play the flatmate of Matt, a young man who uses the Wayahead programme to fulfil his dreams, getting an apprenticeship, car and a home.

Project manager Denise Conroy said: 'This will really help young people to make more informed choices for their future. This could be for sixth forms, colleges and apprenticeships.'

Wayahead will be launched for students from Year 8 upwards later this year, and is being supported by Connexions, the Learning and Skills Council, Cheshire County Council and schools.
