DEATH-DEFYING medieval stunts, aerial high jinks and an extreme motorbike display are all on offer as part of the entertainment at this year's better-than-ever Halton Show.
Following the cancellation of last year's event - due to vital repair work on the Silver Jubilee Bridge - the show has returned bigger and better than before and organisers believe the events on July 16-17 will attract huge numbers of visitors.
Acts performing at the festival include:
The Yakovlevs - a display team flies Russian aircraft made by the Yakovlevs design bureau. These reliable and robust aircraft were designed for training and world class aerobatic competitions.
Leading the Yakovlevs is the world's most powerful Yak 52, known as the Super 52. This unique two-seater aeroplane was specifically developed for the team.
Following in close formation are three single-seat Yak 50s. These world championship aerobatic aircraft are much loved for their sparkling performance, manoeuvrability and grace.
Legends Medieval Stunt Displays - Formed in 1997 by Mark Williams, Legends offer an exciting medieval combination of horse skills, sword fights, jousting and, of course, the ultimate 'melee'. Legends are not a re-enactment society but a skilled band of entertainers, performing highly polished and spectacular displays of medieval combat.
Oliver's Water Show - This spectacular high-dive show from Switzerland is presented by five world-class Olympic swimmers and gymnasts with their own commentator. They perform four 20-minute shows each day. The show consists of approximately 30 dives from a 27m-high tower with platforms at 8, 10, 14 and 25 metres and two diving boards.
The displays include Olympic, acrobatic, comedy high dives and fire dives from these platforms into a mobile pool 8m in diameter and 3m deep. The final dive is made from the 25m platform spinning in the air with somersaults and twists before landing in the water at a speed of 60mph.
Oliver's Water Shows have 23 years' experience and have been featured in Europe, Asia, USA, Australia and Middle East.
Oliver Favre holds the World Outdoor High Dive record at 177ft and World Indoor High Dive record at 110ft at Earls Court.
Xtreme Motor Bike Display - The Xtreme Trials Display Team is the only motorcycle stunt team in the world that uses World Championship standard motorcycle riders. Watch in amazement as you see multi-British and International Champions Martin Crosswaite and Dan Clark perform unbelievable acts of motorcycle control and balance. This, combined with the showmanship and humour of the show, has propelled the Xtreme Trials Display Team into one of the top stunt riding teams in the country.
Dingle Fingle - A fantastic slapstick comedy car stunt show, featuring two clowns, a copy of a 1920s Aston Martin, a Quad 250cc motorcycle and a 30-gallon water pistol. Help Dingle Fingle, undercover policeman, catch Slippery Sid, the classic car thief, once and for all.
James Dylan Stunt Show - James Dylan created Stunt-world in 1972 and it is now the most experienced stunt team in Great Britain. He has been thrilling audiences all over the world and was recently made official stunt trainer for Disneyland Paris.
The Globe Of Death - Thrilling audiences for decades, the Globe of Death is a spectacular motorcycle stunt show performed within a 16ft metal cage. Highly trained and fearless multiple riders perform precision stunts in shows throughout the United Kingdom and Europe.
Green Road Show - The roadshow was conceived in response to the ever-increasing pressures upon our fragile eco-system.
Its unique variety of fascinating exhibits, combined with a continuous programme of environmentally-themed entertainment, ensures that there is always something for everyone to see and do.
All of the displays in the Roadshow are attended by people with many years of practical experience in their various fields.
All the power used in the Green Roadshow is generated by wind turbines and solar panels.
Entertainment on Sunday night includes: Christina Aguilera Tribute - Jeni Jaye is amazing the UK with her stunning raunchy tribute to the one and only Miss Christina Aguilera. Get down and dirty with this sensational tribute show. Madness Tribute Act - Madness are remembered as being one of the most popular bands of the 80s and Ultimate Madness present a 5-piece tribute to the kings of ska with all the enthusiasm of the real thing.
Beatles Tribute Act - The Cavern Beatles have researched their parts meticulously, from chord shapes to drum fills, to ensure the music is represented as accurately as possible.
The Halton Festival will take place in the week leading up to the show.
TV legend Stuart Hall is to head a sizzling line up of events that will take place at the first Halton Festival which organisers claim will be a 'huge hit'.
Stuart will present It's A Knockout at Halton Stadium on July 10 to kick off an entertainment-filled week, culminating in the Halton Show.
The festival will run from July 9-17 and, according to Halton Borough Council, is not to be missed.
The TV show was a smash hit with three teams competing in each episode and around eight countries battling it out in the European final.
