A COUNCILLOR has called for improvements to a major roundabout near two planned industrial developments.

Cheshire county councillor George Mainwaring wants traffic lights on the A556 roundabout at the junction with the A530 King Street.

He says extra traffic to the planned composting plant in Griffiths Road and the gas storage plant at Stublach Grange Farm would stretch the roundabout to breaking point, and says traffic lights would alleviate some of the problems.

He said: 'Both these developments want entrances on to King Street - and the roundabout on the main road is already horrendous.

'I have real concerns about traffic and I will be pressing for some sort of action to be taken.'

He added: 'This is the problem of taking planning applications in isolation - you get two, approve them both in isolation and end up with these problems.'
