DRINKERS in Chester were given the X Factor treatment.

Twelve acts entertained The Piper Pub audience at the final of an X Factor competition to raise money for Chronicle-backed charity Miles of Smiles.

First prize of £200 was won by Daniel Lee Davies of Hoole, who wowed the crowd with a rendition of Bobby Darin’s Mack the Knife. The £100 second prize went to Blues Brothers tribute Ray Fitzgerald and Jeff Whittle.

Third prize of £50 went to first-time entrant Dina, who wooed the audience with her rendition of Evanescence’s Bring Me To Life.

All acts in the final received a certificate and a bottle of wine.

Judges for the annual talent competition were Renata and Peter Boswell of Executive Decision Coaching Ltd, Phil and Sue Thomas of City Limousines, Chester, World Champion Thai kick-boxer Dave Newbrook and Lindsay Bennett of Miles of Smiles.

Fundraising activities at the pub have already raised £2,000 for the charity which sends disabled and disadvantaged children on the trip of a lifetime to Disneyland Paris. Further fundraising aims to take the total to £3,000.
