A CHESTER restaurant is one of the top 20 in the country, according to a national newspaper.

Simon Radley at The Chester Grosvenor is the only restaurant in the North West to make it into the top 20 of the Sunday Times Food List 2012. The list is published in partnership with Harden’s Restaurant Guide and is based on the quality of food.

The top 100 UK restaurants have been chosen by almost 8,000 diners who have shared their experiences on the Harden’s website.

The Chester Grosvenor was also rated one of the top ten places for service and to stay overnight.

To celebrate the accolades, the hotel is offering an exclusive gourmet package for diners keen to experience the fine dining restaurant.

The eight course tasting menu in the restaurant is usually priced at £90 per person but diners are being given the chance to enjoy the gastronomic experience for just £55, every Wednesday throughout December and January.

Simon said: “Making it into the Sunday Times Food List 2012 is a wonderful accolade especially as it comes from the customers who enjoy our fine dining year-round in the restaurant.

The restaurant, which serves French cuisine with a modern twist, is open Tuesday to Sunday.

It has retained its Michelin star since 1990 and is only one of four restaurants in the UK to have been awarded one or more Michelin stars consecutively for the past 23 years.

In addition, it is one of only a small number of restaurants in the UK to be awarded 4 AA Rosettes.

Jonathan Slater, managing director, said: “This is a magnificent tribute to Simon and his dedicated team. I’m delighted that so many of our customers have judged our food to be superb and now they have shared their views with the wider public.”
