A PENSIONER has mastered the art of using a computer – so he can pay his bills online.

John Whittingham, 66, from Hoole, attended a course at the University of Chester Learning and Enterprise Centre in Canal Street.

He was trained in the use of word processing software and created posters and adverts.

He said: “I went to learn how to do computing because you can use your computer to pay gas, water and electric bills.

“There's such a lot of information on the internet I feel I need to be brought into the modern world.”

He praised the staff on the course: “They're very supportive and they like you to make progress. I have a laptop but I wasn't sure how to use it.”

John was able to drop into the centre whenever it suited for advice. “I would encourage anyone who feels they need to learn more about computing to have a go.”
