THE show must go on for Chester scouts as they prepare for a Gang Show in a school hall.

Last year, the Chester Gang Show made its debut at the King’s School, Wrexham Road, after a 40-year run at the Gateway Theatre in the city centre.

Moving into the Gateway just after it opened in 1969, and one of the last out before its closure in 2007, the scout Gang Show was performed in five different decades at the theatre.

But the show has had to be downscaled to adapt to the reduced facilities available at the King’s School.

Gerald Roose, Chester Gang Show Business Committee chairman, insists the show deserves better.

He said: “Although the King’s School is making us very welcome in assisting us by providing a venue for our next show in February 2009, we are very much marooned – as are other local theatre groups – without access to all the facilities provided by a fully operational professional theatre.”

The show runs from Tuesday, February 17 to Saturday, February 21. Evening performances start at 7.15pm and there is a Saturday matinee at 2.15pm.

Prices – main hall: adults £8, concessions £6; balcony £9.
