THE shortlist for Chester’s annual Food and Drink Oscars has been drawn up after an amazing 3,500 votes were cast.

One of the highlights of the Food, Drink and Lifestyle Festival The Chronicle Gala Dinner Awards takes place at 7pm Wednesday April 27 at The Pavilion, Chester Racecourse.

All of the shortlisted entries will be mystery dined and visited over the next fortnight and judges will decide the winners - announced on the evening.

New chairman of the Food, Drink and Lifestyle Festival Jane Casson paid tribute to the quality of the entries.

She said: “This years shortlist is testimony to the quality that our existing venues show and the standards that our new ventures have attained.

“To have over 3,500 votes cast shows that Chester people love their food and drink venues and for the Chronicle to highlight these excellent establishments is just reward for the nominations of their customers.

“I wish them all the best in the mystery dining programme that takes place now with the unenviable task of coming up with a winner in each category going to our judges so that we can crown our champions at our spectacular Gala Dinner awards on April 27.”

The special Outstanding Achievement Award handed to personalities who have made a significant contribution to Chester’s food and drink offering will be awarded on the evening.

Last year’s award went to Chester Grosvenor and Spa MD Jonathan Slater
