SEX offender Royce Roberts, 42, who made thousands of calls to send pornographic images to randomly-selected victims, many of them children, was jailed for four years and three months on Monday.

Judge John Rogers QC, sitting at Mold Crown Court, ordered that he should be registered as a sex offender for life - and special orders were made banning him from ever again owning a mobile phone with a camera or video capability.

Roberts is said to have sold his home to pay for £25,000 of calls across the country - including many complaints from the Chester area.

The painter and decorator, of Palace Street, Caernarfon, pleaded guilty to 15 offences of causing children to watch a sexual act, four of possessing indecent images of a child, and a charge of causing a public nuisance by making unsolicited voice, text and video calls.

Defence barrister Daniel Travers said Roberts had pleaded guilty at the first opportunity and deeply regretted his behaviour.
