Top of the list in Cheshire West and Chester is Lostock Gralam CE Primary School in Northwich, which clocks up a total of 74.99 points out a possible 100.  It is followed by Delamere CE Academy with 73.15 and then St Bernard's Roman Catholic Primary School in Ellesmere Port with 72.6.

Clutton CE Primary School (69.71) and Malpas Alport Endowed Primary School (69.32) make up the rest of the top five.

The league tables have been compiled by Trinity Mirror’s data journalism team as part of a national project to provide parents with up-to-date, relevant information about the schools in their area.

The ground-breaking project has won the backing of Schools Minister David Laws, who said: “Making information about school performance freely available allows parents to see how their child’s school is performing compared to others – and if necessary challenge it to improve.

“I’m pleased to see Trinity Mirror putting this information to good use."
